While Microsoft just released Windows 8.1 last year, the software giant is skipping Windows 9 and headed straight to Windows 10. Well, not straight, per-say. More like forward. As of October 1st, 2014, you can download Windows 10 Technical Preview for free.
Windows Insider Program
In 2011, Microsoft released its Beta version of its Windows 8 operating system to the public. Three years later, Microsoft is handing out more candy to early adopters with releasing its “Windows 10 Technical Preview.” The Windows Technical Preview is available as a free download if you’re signed up for the Windows Insider Program. After you register for the Windows Insider Program with a Microsoft account, you can immediately download Windows 10 Technical Preview installation as a 32-bit or 64-bit ISO file. Although not immediately apparent, there are two versions of Windows 10 currently available.
Windows 10 Technical Preview
The standard technical preview (which is more like a preview of the OS’s Pro version) provides you with standard business management functionality. Some of the popular elements include encryption, Work Place Join and Work Folders. This is the option that most consumers will want to choose and is available here.
Window 10 Technical Preview for Enterprise
The Enterprise edition targets business consumers who need Enterprise-related technologies and functionality. Some of the popular Enterprise edition components include AppLocker, BranchCache, DirectAccess and Windows To Go. IT professionals will benefit most from this edition, available here.
